America First Polling Shows Doug Jones Trailing by 1 Point
Two Alabama polls commissioned by America First Policies in the month of November show Democrat candidate Doug Jones now losing to Republican Roy Moore by 1 point in the special election fight for the U.S. Senate seat.
America First Policies fielded two surveys, one in mid-November (Nov. 13 to 15) and another later in the month (Nov. 26 to 28) to gauge the sentiment of Alabama voters who will head to the polls on December 12.
In the initial survey, Jones led Moore on the initial ballot by eight points (49% Jones – 41% Moore). The latter survey shows Jones’ lead dropping, now trailing Moore 46% to 45%, a 9-point swing in just a couple weeks.
“Although there has been a massive amount of investment and media attention surrounding the race, Doug Jones has tumbled,” said Brian O. Walsh, president of America First Policies. “This election is a dead heat and far from over.”
Alabama statewide quantitative research was conducted between November 13-15, 2017, and again between November 26-28, 2017, among N = 600 likely 2018 Alabama special election voters using a split-sample of 1/4 Landline, 1/4 Cell phone, and 1/2 Internet. Margin of error: + 4.0%
