America First Policies Takes “Tax Cuts to Put America First” Tour to the Hawkeye State
America First Policies made its fourth stop on its “Tax Cuts to Put America First” tour on Tuesday, March 6, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The event drew 600 Iowans and Nebraskans to the Mid-America Center.
The series, “Tax Cuts to Put America First,” features guest speakers discussing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act—signed into law by President Donald J. Trump in December 2017.
Tuesday’s event featured a panel with Iowa Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg; Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority; Todd E. Behrend, principal of Ryan, LLC; and Ben McLean, CEO of Ruan Transportation and chairman of the Iowa Business Council. The panel discussed how the tax legislation is affecting Iowa and Nebraska residents, and the nation as a whole. The panel was moderated by Curtis Ellis, senior policy advisor for America First Policies.
Governor Kim Reynolds introduced Vice President Mike Pence, who addressed the impact of the tax cuts on Iowa and Nebraska families, who, on average, can now keep $2,500 and $2,300 more of their own hard-earned money, respectively, thanks to the new law.
“Our tax cuts are just starting to make a difference,” he said. “We cut taxes for American businesses and their employees so Iowa farmers and manufacturers can compete and win anywhere in the world.”
