America First Policies Takes “Tax Cuts to Put America First” Tour To Motor City, USA
America First Policies made its third stop on its "Tax Cuts to Put America First" tour yesterday, March 2, in Detroit, Michigan. The event drew about 700 Michiganders to the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel.
The series, "Tax Cuts to Put America First," features guest speakers discussing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act--signed into law by President Donald J. Trump in December 2017.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette kicked off the event with an introduction of Vice President Mike Pence, who told an enthusiastic crowd that "Michigan is leading the American comeback like never before." In a 45-minute speech, the Vice President addressed the impact of the tax cuts on Michigan families, who, on average, can now keep $2,300 more of their own hard-earned money, thanks to the new law.
The Vice President continued, "Since President Trump signed these new tax cuts into law, over 400 companies nationwide have announced more than $480 billion in new investments in American jobs and American workers. In fact, here in the Motor City, you might have heard Fiat Chrysler is giving out $2,000 tax cuts bonuses to all of its workers, and they're going to move their entire production line from Mexico to Michigan, and create 2,500 new, good-paying jobs ... Let's hear it for Fiat Chrysler for saying yes to America, and yes to Michigan!" To listen to the Vice President’s full remarks, click here [audio begins at 1:25:40 mark].
Following the Vice President's speech, the discussion of the tax legislation's impact continued with U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI, CD-7) and Senior Policy Advisor for America First Policies, Curtis Ellis.
