America First Policies Kicks Off “Tax Cuts to Put America First” Series in Pittsburgh, PA
America First Policies kicked off the first in a series of tax policy events last Friday, February 2, with about 250 guests at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The series, “Tax Cuts to Put America First,” will feature guest speakers discussing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act—signed into law by President Donald J. Trump in December—and how the legislation will impact Americans throughout the country.
Last Friday’s event featured a panel discussion and audience Q & A with two U.S. Congressmen from the Pittsburgh area: Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-PA, CD-12) and Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA, CD-3). The discussion was moderated by Curtis Ellis, senior policy advisor at America First Policies.
“The Keystone State is a living example of the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” said Brian O. Walsh, president of America First Policies. “Thanks to the new law, families in Pennsylvania will be able to keep more of their hard-earned money, and Pennsylvania companies, including Pittsburgh’s own PNC Financial Services Group and F.N.B. Corporation, are reinvesting in their employees with bonuses, 401(K) contributions, and minimum wage increases.”
The event concluded with a speech by special guest Vice President Michael R. Pence, who spoke of an “American comeback … starting right here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,” where unemployment has dropped by nearly 25 percent since Election Day.
