New America First Poll: Americans Strongly Distrust China
Through a recent national survey commissioned by America First Policies, urgent data was revealed on the distrust Americans have of China amid the global health pandemic.
The novel Coronavirus of 2019 (COVID-19) originated in Wuhan and has crippled at least 180 countries including the United States.
Tragically to COVID-19, countless lives have been lost and our country has been forced to close its doors. Thankfully under President Trump’s bold leadership, safe plans for a phased reopening are underway.
This crisis has demonstrated America’s immediate need to bring our supply chains back home.
- Our survey found 78% of Americans support “American First policies to increase the United States’ manufacturing capacity and reduce our economic reliance on China.”
- Furthermore, 67% support “President Trump’s America First policies to increase the United States’ manufacturing capacity and reduce our economic reliance on China.”
The message is clear: China cannot be trusted and have the power to pull at the strings of America’s supply chains.
The Trump Administration has taken unprecedented leadership to hold China accountable for the wreckage of COVID-19 while prioritizing Americans' safety and health.
The polling results echo other national findings that reveal Americans across the political spectrum agree China is responsible for the world’s current pandemic and cannot be trusted on trade and geopolitical issues.
According to a recent Harris poll, Americans showed a bipartisan distrust in statements made by the Chinese government about COVID-19 and supported reinstating tariffs on certain Chinese goods.
With a whole-of-America response, the Trump administration continues to put the needs of our country first and defeat the invisible enemy with every resource at his disposal.
